Not a „nothing“. I would rather say – everything, and a lot in between.

And the first thing that comes to my mind every time I wear it? The song, of course. Non, rien de rien, je ne regrette rien…off I go humming, and it sticks in my mind for hours. Just like Etat Libre d’Orange Rien does.

I have absolutely no regrets about constantly wearing this perfume. Rien by Etat Libre d’Orange is dramatic, different, and…well, not at all what you might expect at the first sniff!

From the gorgeous bubbly blast of aldehydes, bitter iris, sharp civet to a healthy dose of leather, and although it seems that everything hits you at once, it is complicated indeed.  A fine mixture of classical thrill and twisted, modern approach.

Created by Antoine Lee in 2006, a rebel-rebel perfume. Just when I thought yay! here comes the freshness & aldehydes bliss, the fragrance sways in another direction and hits heavy on spices, patchouli, and leather&amber.  Turning dark, suggesting a bit of smoke, a couple of rose petals, a sniff of musk, a drop of oakmoss – sensual, yet so balanced and elegant. So Etat Libre d’Orange style that made it famous, and a chypre that I appreciate very much: edgy, unisex, bold, and (very) potent! Whooosh!

Etienne de Swardt / ELDO

One spray and a day starts for me with this song,  a feeling of inner strength, and a healthy dose of defiance: dare to be different, and dare to show your true colors. Very funky, so make sure to sample it first.

Thank you, Etienne, I love it!

Notes:  aldehydes, rose, cumin, black pepper, patchouli, iris, leather, oakmoss, amber, labdanum, incense, and styrax.

I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do! It goes so well with a pair of Trippen shoes and a je ne regrette  rien attitude.

A bottle of Rien was provided by Etat Libre d’Orange at a press event held at Martimex Niche Parfumery, opinions of my own.
