Exactly one year after the great fire of Notre-Dame, Filippo Sorcinelli launched a new fragrance, as a new addition to the Delire de Voyage Collection: Notre-Dame 15.4.2019. A new extrait de parfum, inspired by the devastating fire of the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris revolves around the idea of three main elements: „the triggering event, the water on the stones, and the Essence that remains“ – forever.
What is the essence of the Cathedral?

During the past 10 weeks I had enough time to go through my perfume bottles and samples, making an inventory of a kind. I ended up playing like a little kid with perfume and desert sand, and just sniffing certain fragrances made me close my eyes: I traveled in time and space to deserts I long for, or the ones I’ve always dreamt about.

I wanted to share them with you, and maybe inspire you to do the same, so here are the 5  desert-themed fragrances I wore the most this spring! I’m not (never) saying that these are the TOP5 ever or anything like that – you’ll make your own choices. I’ll try to explain why I singled out these five, and what makes them special.

Let me share some good news with you!

The finalists for the Perfumed Plume Awards 2020 are announced and guess what?

The Plum Girl Blog is a finalist in THREE categories: Perfume Stories in Mainstream Media – Digital – Magazines, Newspapers, Blog Postings, Webzines – with Jean Claude Ellena -The Man Who Stole The Show/Pitti Fragranze Retrospective; Short ‘n Sweet Perfume Stories – Print or Digital – with Jungle Jezebel Review/Miguel Matos for Sarah Baker Perfumes and INSTApost — Perfume Stories on Instagram – with Lover’s Tale / Francesca Bianchi!

The first thing Johanna Venables, founder and perfumer of NOT Perfumes, tells you about her creations is a warning. When you do NOT, keep in mind that:

“The Extracts are very concentrated and forbidden to wear on the skin due to the inclusion of possibly dangerous or irritating materials. Instead, it’s suggested they are used on a handkerchief, in a pomander or an aroma locket.

Some customers are tempted to wear them on the skin and report doing so, but they are very naughty people and do it entirely at their own risk.”

One of the greatest perfumers in the world, a Master Perfumer. Jean Claude Ellena.

Through his work, he’s been a part of my life for years now! On my skin. Not surprising when you think about all the perfumes he signs! I also love him maybe because I’m sentimental about his path in perfumery, maybe because times are a-changing. His way is the “old French school”, classical way.

Shall there be stories like his in the future?
