Days are obviously getting longer, we’ve even had a couple of sunny days lately. I’m waiting for Spring…and I reached out for Velvet Splendour. Its sunrise is displaying lovely hues of orange blossoms and puffy, soft, bright yellow mimosa blossoms, feeling like hot sun rays on your skin somewhere in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges. Ok, technically it’s not mimosa, I know, I know, but that’s what I call those puffy-golden-ray-of-sunshine flowers! And honestly, I’d love to be somewhere in Australia right now.
The sunset of this perfume is what got to me – it felt smooth like thick oriental silk soaked into a tonka accord. Opoponax is giving a honeyed and sensual touch to ambergris accords in the dry-down, and on my skin it performs quite long, lingering in a very elegant, even slightly powdery, soft oriental-spicy way. Silky and smooth.
I have never been to Australia (yet) so I’m imagining how it would be to sit under an Acacia tree in full blossom somewhere in the deserts of South Australia. The tree has soft fern or feather-like leaves and thorns: I would probably wear a bright yellow hat with a very wide brim, casting a shadow upon my face, back of the neck, and shoulders, breathing Mimosa polen that’s all around me. I’d probably feel very happy. Dimitri Weber., I want that hat:
It’s summertime now. In Australia! And it’s mimosa season in Dalmatia. In a couple of days, there’ll be freshly picked branches with yellow puffs on the marketplace, yay! Maybe this is why I’ve been reaching out for mimosa-centered fragrances, and there have been quite a few great ones lately.
Velvet Splendour by Goldfield&Banks is a lovely, easy-to-wear fragrance that you can wear all year-round. I enjoy it the most on the first sunny, early Spring, and not-so-hot Summer days.
