Atlante.
I remember it struck me as „interesting“ while I was sniffing and testing literally hundreds of perfumes at Esxence Milano 2019. I noticed then and there that quite a few „aquatic“ fragrances were released!
What was it that caught my attention then? On the first sniff – a refined mineral lightness, adding a strangely fresh silvery-pearly-gray feeling to the fragrance, resembling the scent of crushed, dry, and empty seashells found somewhere on a shore of Atlantic ocean.
Ah…Summer! No, you won’t be seeing any „SummerTop 10“ or whatever lists here, simply because I believe that you can wear any fragrance you please – anytime you want to – if it feels good and makes you happy: Sex and the Sea, anytime!
Rab/Arba is a small island, 22 km long and located in the northwestern part of the Adriatic Sea/Croatia, very easy accessible from Rijeka or Zagreb. When you reach the ferry port Stinica, it’s a ten minutes ferry ride to Rab.
When you approach the island, first what you see is mostly barren terrain -karst on the northeastern side of the island, while the southwestern side is covered by one of the last oak forests of the Mediterranean, justifying its name: the Illyrian-Liburnian word Arb meant „dark, obscure, green, forested“.
Fig is a fruit without a visible flower, a symbol of blessing and prosperity in the ancient world, a symbol of sexuality and modesty in the Renaissance, and a lovely perfume note today. The sensuous smell of figs!
Lemon: what an instant reminder of the summer holidays!
Just one sniff brings back memories of the hot noon sun, green leaves hiding waxy white dainty flowers, unopened ones slightly pink at the top, and suddenly… it’s summertime, and the living is easy.
Lemons are ripe, fragrant, and bright yellow. The ones you see are picked from a tree in my garden, homegrown and untreated. And do they smell! Love this lemon scented life!
