During the past 10 weeks, I had enough time to go through my perfume bottles and samples, making an inventory of a kind. I ended up playing like a little kid with perfume and desert sand, and just sniffing certain fragrances made me close my eyes: I traveled in time and space to deserts I long for, or the ones I’ve always dreamt about.

I wanted to share them with you, and maybe inspire you to do the same, so here are the 5  great fragrances for desert lovers! I wore them the most this spring! I’m not (never) saying that these are the TOP 5 ever or anything like that – you’ll make your own choices. I’ll try to explain why I singled out these five, and what makes them special.

Eresia. Heresy.

It has been with me for some time, this bottle of Eresia. I wore it, tested it, and planned to write about it sooner than this: I let the fragrance sink in my skin and listened to its fragrant language. And just as I was getting ready to sit down and write my review, an earthquake shook the cabinet with my collection proudly displayed, and one perfume bottle fell upon the others, broke, and leaked all over the bottom shelf. Eresia was drenched with another perfume, and it took me quite a while to clean the bottle, wash out the remains of perfume lingering in the red tassel threads, and try to rub out any leftover traces with Ethanol.

When I finally succeeded, the bottle looked slightly soiled, patinated, and battered: strange, but this seemed to befit the perfume well…adding it a touch of patina.

Nishane, a renowned niche brand from Turkey was exhibiting on Esxence Milan 2019, and here’s my brief report on some fragrances, and the new THE LITTLE PRINCE collection they just launched! Murat Kutran and Mert Guzel are always so genuinely kind, and it’s a pleasure to see their brand (the first niche fragrance brand from Istanbul) grow! I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen next, and from what I’ve heard, things are going to get even better. Let’s wait and see, and for the time being here are my snapshot reviews of Hundred Silent Ways and Fan Your Flames, Little Prince included!

Here comes my second #sprayathome #sprayitforward Newsletter No.2: I hope you are all at home and well. Times are complicated but our love for perfumes unites us, so I’ll keep sharing news that small perfume brands have sent me. We’re at war. The enemy is invisible. I truly believe that we should all share our resources with the community, and support each other in times of need. I hope you’ll find something for yourself: if you’re looking for a perfume to make you feel better, help you endure or make you feel glamourous,  make sure to shop online and from niche/indie/artisan brands!
